About Old Maid
What this is
This is a free game of Old Maid you can play right in your browser. There is no signup, no account, and nothing to download or install. It works on a phone, a tablet, or a computer, so it is easy to play with a young child on a single screen.
Why we built it
Old Maid is a first game for a lot of kids — draw a card, find a pair, and try not to be left holding the odd one out. The online version has to be that simple and that clear. That is the whole design goal: big, readable cards, an obvious draw and match, and no clutter. Easy to read, easy to play.
What else is here
Alongside the game we keep a small set of reference pages, maintained together with the game itself so the rules and the play always match:
- Old Maid RulesRemoving the odd card, matching pairs, and the last card left.
- Old Maid for Young KidsA printable guide for parents and teachers playing with little ones.
- Old Maid StrategyKeeping a straight face and reading which card to draw.
- Old Maid VariationsDifferent odd cards and other ways families play.
Who makes this
This site is built and maintained by a small, independent team of people who actually play these games. It is one of a handful of classic card game sites we look after, and we keep the rules and strategy pages current alongside the game rather than letting them drift. If a rule looks wrong or something plays strangely, that is the kind of thing we want to fix.
